It is always in the best interest of the cell phone owner to completely clean data and personal information off the phone before donating, selling or giving it to anyone.  The owner’s manual for the cellular phone will most likely contain the directions for which to complete this action safely and securely.

Before permanently removing the sensitive information, always check to see if your new provider can copy the data onto your new phone.  This saves not only time, but the possibility of human error to transferring the data.
